Resumen
Non-Hausdorff étale groupoids arise naturally in many contexts, however, key tools from the study of their Hausdorff counterparts are not always applicable. Work of Timmermann introduced a Hausdorff cover for non-Hausdorff groupoids using the Fell topology. This talk discusses to what extent this cover reduces questions about non-Hausdorff étale groupoids and their C*-algebras to the Hausdorff case. We will see that the Hausdorff cover yields characterisations of amenability, the ideal intersection property, as well as triviality of the singular ideal in certain cases. This is based on joint work with K. A. Brix, J. B. Hume and X. Li.
